      Verdict

      CARRINGTON has been placed in both starts in handicaps so far including when runner-up in soft ground at Newmarket last month. His proven ability to handle the going earns Charlie Appleby's charge the vote. Scarlet Dragon and Gold Merlion won their respective maidens on fast ground at Leicester and Thirsk respectively while Boycie was successful on the all-weather earlier. Imperious One returned a losing favourite in novice company last time and Easter Mate has yet to threaten in four starts.
