In depth

Verdict

A typically competitive renewal of this valuable handicap in which it usually pays to have a low draw. The well-backed Celestial Path has been unlucky in that respect, as has the in-form Jailawi, but FRANKLIN D looks ideally berthed in stall one as he likes to be prominent. Michael Bell's improving four-year-old beat Hors De Combat by six lengths at Newmarket and has only picked up a 3lb penalty so will have no excuses. Donncha invariably runs well in races of this type and the Sandown second has solid each-way claims again. Belgian Bill got this last year on a disqualification and races off the same mark so is also worth a second look while Master The World has the class to figure. Outlaw Country is an interesting runner for Godolphin and there were high hopes for Keystroke at the start of the year. Azraff looks best of the rest, though One Word More ties in closely with Celestial Path on York running.
