        Verdict

        The Prince can belie his years to land a hat-trick at the expense of Highland Reel and Linning Wine. With Highland Reel likely to be a fairly short price, it may be worth instead pinning your hopes on The Prince to keep up the good work. At the age of ten, Ian Williams' charge has been in the form of his life lately, and won in a hack canter at Hamilton recently. The old stager went over to Deauville on Friday to finish second in similar company, and if allowed to run here, will surely give a good account. Obviously Highland Reel will be fancied, having won a class C handicap here in May, but has yet to win on this sort of ground and might not be the good thing that he first appears to be. Linning Wine was caught in the slipstream of a revitalised Norton at Sandown and he too has performed at a better level, while Ben Hur ran quite well at Windsor and should go on the ground. However, we shall take a sporting chance with The Prince.
