Verdict

A lottery of a handicap to open proceedings with Scrafton the only one to have won over today’s distance before and that was back in 2014. But San Quentin and Starcrossed have won over a slightly shorter trip at Chelmsford and Shalambar scored over 1m5f in a claimer at Lingfield earlier this year. Salient was successful over 1m3f in soft ground here last term but SWEET SELECTION represents last year’s winning yard and returned a ready winner stepped up to 2m at Chelmsford in November. She may well prove as effective over today’s distance and gets a speculative vote.
