Abiento showed the benefit of his opening run with a fine effort over 6f on soft ground at Haydock and will have come on again for the experience. Manolito De Madrid showed promise at Sandown and started a short-price at Epsom but didn't handle the track and couldn't get to the winner. Syncopation caught the eye at Ascot as did Ray's The Money on the same card though LOCKHEED had made a very impressive debut on the track the previous day. William Haggas' 450,000gns yearling raced on the opposite side to the eventual winner but came through in great style and can only improve over the extra furlong. There are some choicely-bred newcomers to keep an eye on including Richard Hannon's Ghayyar and the Marcus Tregoning pair Imphal and Star Stream.
