        Alexius (IRE) Overcame lack of experience when beating Putra Sandhurst (winner since) at Newmarket on debut; bred to be useful and with improvement to come an obvious threat to the favourite

        Demophilos Stepped up in class having won a Newmarket handicap last time; would need to improve again.

        Hill Country (IRE) Another winner at Newmarket last time; has not been particularly consistent in the past though and probably best watched.

        Nayef (USA) Leading two-year-old of last season; has had a troubled season this year and while stable is in form is difficult to fancy.

        Saddler's Creek (USA) One of the stable's lesser lights but Aidan O'Brien has many stars in his yard; St Leger entry suggests he may be capable of better.

        Snowstorm Consistent performer but may not have the class of one or two of his rivals.

        Sydenham (USA) Possibly flattered by seventh place in the french Derby having struggled to land the odds in a weak maiden subsequently; needs to step up on that effort here.

        Torcello (IRE) Has not reproduced the form of his Chester run in May of late and difficult to fancy with any confidence.

        Wareed (IRE) Encouraging second on Predominate on British debut; entitled to improve for longer trip.
