        Verdict

        They will raise the roof if Persian Punch obliges again, and on the evidence seen so far, David Elsworth's star can do it at the expense of Boreas who might need the outing, and Zindabad who hails from a stable renowned for its top-class stayers. Persian Punch has seen it all before and was successful here in 2001. Tactics played a big part in his downfall 12 months ago when he was asked to force the pace and succumbed to the finishing kick of Jardines Lookout. The latter looks held now on their running in a recent Listed event at Sandown in which the selection battled back really well to beat the useful Cover Up, with Savannah Bay also held. Boreas will be there or thereabouts on his second to Persian Punch at Newmaket last October but seems a hard horse to get fit, while Zindabad bids to give Mark Johnston a fifth Goodwood Cup, but the trip is a worry after his lacklustre effort in France. Get the earplugs out then or be prepared to be deafened by the roar as Persian Punch battles his way home.
