Verdict
A tricky end to proceedings, with Amizan getting a tentative vote over last time out winners Essnaad, Cap Ferrat, Annambo, Web Perceptions and Suzuka. The latter stands his ground from a total of four Mark Johnston entries, and with the stable's impressive record with stayers here, indeed Knavesmire Omen was successful on Wednesday, Suzuka can be expected to go close. However, an inspection of Almizan's form reveals that he is open to tons of improvement, Mick Channon's charge having had just three career outings, and now steps up in trip for the first time. He put in an eye catching effort behind Vengeance on his handicap bow here two months ago, and both the winner and runner-up Trouble At Bay have franked the form since. Not over weighted here he can outstay those mentioned earlier and also John Dunlop's Albanov, the mount of Pat Eddery. A winner in soft ground at Chepstow, he can give Almizan most to do.
