In a competitive renewal of the Molecomb, we will shortlist Starlit Sands, Littlemisssunshine, Kingsgate Bay and Spirit of Sharjah, and make Starlit Sands the selection. The Sir Mark Prescott-trained Starlit Sands ran a blinder to be second in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and that type of form makes her a major player today, although it remains to be seen whether a draw away from the stands rail will be disadvantageous. Littlemisssunshine confirmed herself as smart when finishing sixth in that same Royal Ascot race. That type of form, for us, makes her competitive today and, having trotted up in a four-runner affair since then, she can run well from a lower draw than the selection. Kingsgate Native's debut was a remarkable runner-up run in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot and, even though he is drawn in stall 11, he could yet go well, as could the Coventry Stakes third Spirit Of Sharjah, who looked as though he didn't stay in the July Stakes at Newmarket last time, although he has a wide draw to contend with today. Of the others, Captain Gerrard comes here as an up-and-comer, Aide Memoir's form is solid, having finished fourth in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and ninth, though not beaten that far, in the Cherry Hinton on her last two runs, and Fleeting Spirit won well on her debut, although this represents a big step up from that. Once again, then, for the selection, we will stick with Starlit Sands.
