CARPE DIEM may be able to seize this opportunity and is selected ahead of Star Choice and Complete Frontline. The selection was the subject of a monster gamble at Beverley in July but he never once looked like justifying the market support. He was given a long break and returned to action in the middle of last month at Brighton where he was once again sent off as favourite. He wasn't beaten too far though and shaped as though this longer trip should suit whilst the surface should pose no problems and he may be worth one more chance to recoup losses. Star Choice is an obvious danger in a modest contest following his win at Wolverhampton on his handicap bow; he's been raised by 6lbs but that is reduced by his young pilot's claim. Another in-form horse to make the short-list is Complete Frontline who comes into the race on the back of a short-head defeat over a mile at Wolverhampton. This is his first attempt over a longer trip but his breeding hints that it will hold no fears for him and he should go well. Market moves for Lightning Squall and Felicia would bring them into the equation but we'll give one final chance to Carpe Diem.
