In depth

Verdict

Dougie Peel can take this claimer from Gassal, while Hassadin is another punting possible. The selection is unusually consistent for one keeping lowly company, having won twice at Catterick over seven furlongs this season, with a decent effort at Thirsk sandwiched in between. Pedigree suggests that he can handle this marked step up in trip and even if he isn't at his best he might be good enough see off the others. Gassal is BHA top-rated in the race and is 9lb better off with the selection than if this were a handicap. However, her pedigree is very much around the mile or seven furlong mark and it is doubtful she will see it out. Hassadin has been soundly thrashed in two appearances so far, but he is likely to find a fair bit more for this trip and can get involved. Ba Globetrotter and Strikemaster have stamina doubts and Tarawa Atoll has plenty to find so we'll stick with Dougie Peel.
