Verdict

Red Somerset is in great form and attempts a hat-trick here but STORM SIR won so easily last time that he should be able to topple Ron Hodges' charge. Storm Sir absolutely dotted up in a Lingfield maiden last time out and has gone up 7lb for this handicap as a result. He could have won by much further than the official eight length margin and with that first success under his belt and proven both over this trip and on the polytrack we'll take him to follow up off bottom weight now back in a handicap. Red Somerset has scored at both Ascot and Windsor just lately and gone up a total of 9lb for those successes. This is his first try on the polytrack and if he handles it he won't be far away. Decameron got stuck in the mud last time but a return to his fast ground form from earlier in the summer would give him a good shout. Nightjar returns to this surface for the first time since May and has been going well on turf, but unfortunately he has also gone up in the weights without managing to win a handicap. Who's This is dropped to this trip for the first time and that may help to overcome his tendency to race to freely, so improvement is entirely possible, while Just Bond has ability but reserves his best for Wolverhampton. Storm Sir can thunder home in front.
