      Verdict

Kings College Boy is a sporting pick against Compton Classic and Monte Major. The selection has been knocking on the door for quite some time and while his long suffering followers have not enjoyed the best of fortunes, he does handle the surface and has a reasonable draw this afternoon. Compton Classic is in good nick and that counts for plenty at this level. A winner of back-to-back sprints last month, he has to be respected as the archetypal sprinter in form. Monte Major is better known on the all-weather but he ran well on the turf last week and was unfortunate to be mugged by Blessed Place. Front running Brut is probably better over six although he is sure to run his usual game race. Katie Boo has been quietly fancied in recent weeks and appears best of the rest. A trappy handicap in which Kings College Boy receives the most tentative of nods.
