In depth

Verdict

A few of these have racecourse experience and look the ones to concentrate on here, so the short list comprises Verinco, Custard Cream Kid, Going Time and Calley Ho and the vote goes to Going Time. Mark Johnston¿s runner was in the process of running a good debut here over five furlongs when hampered and eventually coming in last of five, but he was beaten only three lengths or so. With a clear run here and the step up in trip likely to suit, plus experience of the track, we can see him finish in front. Custard Cream Kid also made a pleasing debut when third of 12 to Harwalla at Ripon. The penny dropped pretty well that day and he wasn¿t stopping, so he may well be capable of raising his game. Calley Ho also ran a nice race first up in a Beverley maiden and is bred to show plenty of speed at this age, so he can¿t be ruled out, while Verinco has been involved at the death in a couple of maidens so far and although he¿ll need to improve, he won¿t be far away. Of the newcomers, Little Tokyo may prove to be the best, though watch the market for clues, but we will take Going Time to score.
