In depth

Verdict

Striding Edge complicates matters given he’s favourably treated off his current mark but was due to run at Ripon yesterday so a chance is taken on CONFIDE. The latter can race off the same mark as when narrowly beaten at York on his handicap debut and looks sure to go close again if proving as effective on soft going. Hlaitan is fitted with headgear after placing at Newbury and could also go well but Variyann failed in a bid for a hat-trick when upped to 1m2f at Windsor last time. Modakhar finished closer over track and trip last week and blinkers are fitted but Al Erayg hasn’t won on Turf since way back in 2016.
