      Verdict

ROCKETBALL looks capable of defying a penalty to follow up his course and distance win of a couple of weeks ago, while Rothesay Dancer is much respected. The Patrick Morris-trained selection won with a little in hand last time when the going description was the same as tonight's, and he looks likely to be able to find what is required to lump around an extra 6lbs here. Rothesay Dancer loves this place and appears to act on any ground. He is 3lbs higher than his best winning mark and would be a popular scorer for Jim Goldie. Select Committee is a consistent sort who has become a bit of a victim of that at the hands of the assessor. Nonetheless he is expected to get closely involved once more, but might find a couple too good. Sandwith never got in a blow at Thirsk last time but had previously put up some form that would entitle him to plenty of respect in this. Neither he, nor from this mark Silvanus are discounted, but preference is for Rocketball.
