In depth
Verdict
A competitive sprint but Laurel Dawn comes here in fine fettle after recent wins at Musselburgh and Beverley and still looks fairly treated despite a 6lb penalty. However, the steadier of 10st 6lb may be more of a problem on this occasion. Rampart is another sprinter in good form having incurred a penalty for landing an amateurs event over an extra furlong on the track last weekend. The five-year-old is arguably better over further but has plenty of speed and shouldn't be too inconvenienced by the drop back to the minimum distance on this stiff course. Paid Up hails from a yard in form and showed last time that his turn was near when runner-up at Musselburgh while Present 'n Correct is another who has been knocking on the door of late.
