Verdict
Not the best of races and Alpine Special, who put in an improved effort at Doncaster last time, is just preferred over Jerome, Bishop To Actress and Royal Upstart. The Pat Haslam-trained selection ran Danesmead to a length and a quarter over this trip on Town Moor and showed a good attitude despite being headed inside the final furlong. The winner subsequently went on to finish second in the Goff's Challenge at The Curragh - giving the form a rock-solid boost. Alpine Special should have learnt plenty from his two outings to date and, with his stable back in-form, he is expected to cope with the late thrusts of Jerome and Bishop To Actress today.
