    Verdict

Local Poet and Mandarin Rocket have both found one too good on their last two starts however the last-named is taken to get off the mark at the fifteenth attempt here, with Ignition looking best of the rest. Linda Perratt's runner has shown a good level of form on this ground and was only narrowly held over this course and distance last time out. He actually shapes as if he may get slightly further than this mile and so if this becomes a slog in the mud, he may just be able to outstay them late on. Local Poet has claims, however it remains to be seen whether he is up to winning over a mile (all wins have come at shorter). Ignition tends to alternate between good and poor runs and he would be a danger if at his best, whilst Northern Desert may do better now reverting to the turf although the suspicion is that better ground would suit. At a price Howards Rocket could run well if coming on for his recent run, however Mandarin Rocket is taken to break his maiden tag.
