        Verdict

        Mick Channon held Obe Gold in high enough regard to allow him to take his chance in an Italian Group 3 earlier in the season - where he was very unlucky not to come away with the major prize. He faces an easier task in comparison here and is selected over Windy Prospect and Hansomelle, who can give him the most to do. The latter is a course and distance winner that appears to be going the right way to pick up a race like this. However, he does have a little to prove with regard to the underfoot conditions and others make more appeal. Wind Prospect gained some compensation for a series of near misses when winning on the all weather on his last start. The drop back in trip should be no problem for his with this stiff finish in his favour and whatever manages to pass him will know that he has been in a race. Stablemate Profit's Reality holds a similar profile and the betting market will tell us which of the Paul Blockley-trained duo is the better fancied this afternoon. However, they may all have to concede best to Obe Gold, who has a touch of class about him and deserves a change of fortune after coming up against some high-class individuals on his travels up to press.
