In depth

Verdict

BID FOR GOLD is our pick in the best race on the card though Turnkey and Ingleby Arch will make him work hard for it. Jedd O'Keeffe's five-year-old is a likeable type and has won here previously. Effective on most surfaces, he has clearly been kept away from the track with this engagement in mind. Turnkey has few issues in relation to the going. His last two successes have obtained in claiming company but he is now 2lb lower than his last foray into handicaps. Ingleby Arch is not quite as good on turf as he is at Southwell on the fibresand. The booking of Neil Brown is eyecatching. Burnwynd Boy was on the verge of listed class not so long ago but the wheels have come off spectacularly. Dickie La Davoir would be a much shorter price if his beating of Red Cape at Pontefract were taken in isolation. Regrettably, he hasn't offered a lot else since. Quiet Elegance is noted in the market. She won on soft going as a juvenile and is tried in first time cheekpieces this evening. Sandwith has ability though is an infrequent winner. Bid For Gold is accordingly recommended.
