Verdict
The jump jockeys beat their flat counterparts in a similar contest at Sandown last week and are fancied to take the honours again here with Sangiovese, the mount of Timmy Murphy, getting the verdict over Reap and Buthaina. The last mentioned has left John Dunlop since winning a Newcastle maiden a year ago but is interesting on her return in a handicap, if retaining all of her ability. Of more interest though is Jeff Pearce's Reap, who ran as well as could have been expected on unsuitably soft ground at Newcastle last time. The vote though goes to Hugh Morrison's Sangiovese who should also be better served than the less testing conditions than at Kempton last time and should appreciate the return to a mile. The flat jockeys best chance of a victory probably rests with Willie Supple's mount Acomb, who has slipped to an attractive mark and showed signs of a return to form at Thirsk last time. Active Account has claims on his all-weather form but it remains to be seen whether he can reproduce it back on turf and a safer bet looks to be Sangiovese.
