          Verdict

          The booking of Kerrin McEvoy is considered significant enough for Thorny Mandate to get nod over Tetragon, Apache Point and Farnborough, who come across as the best of the rest. Farnborough is in good heart at present and has each-way claims on the best of his efforts. However, there is the suspicion that he is better on the artificial surfaces and he has a bit to find on the pick of his turf form. Apache Point went down fighting in a decent little race at York last time out and may have more to offer this term. Watch the betting with him. Similar comments apply to Tetragon, who hacked up in a claimer when he was last seen out. A 57-day absence is a worry with him and others may have a fitness edge on this occasion. None more so than Thorny Mandate, who handled good ground well at Chester just four days ago. The son of Diktat is in the form of his life at present and has every chance of finding the extra effort now that he has discovered what it takes for him to win a race.
