Verdict
Always Rainbows faces a stiff task under his penalty, while Great News showed next to nothing on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter. The latter will be more at home over this trip and is expected to step up on his debut. Middlethorpe will ensure there is no hanging around and should run well at a big price. Kilmeny, the winner of four races on the flat, is worthy of respect, but he was some way behind I Cried For You and Diamond Max on the level. I Cried For You, the winner of the 2001 Cambridgeshire, has struggled a little since then off a much higher mark and is a classy recruit to the hurdling ranks. At his best with some give underfoot, he is sure to make his presence felt, but in the shape of Diamond Max, he faces a horse of similar ability. The winner of a Listed event in France, David Evans's gelding could just have the edge here and is the TEAMtalk selection to win a competitive event.
