      Verdict

Anduril deserves to win a race of this nature after a string of respectable efforts but remains a shade high in the weights and preference is for Band, who gets the vote ahead of Tregarron. The last mentioned showed promise on his latest start when chasing home Dvinsky at Chepstow but Richard Hannon's gelding has yet to prove his effectiveness over today's trip and is probably best watched. Tedsdale Mac was dropped to six furlongs to land a Carlisle handicap earlier this month and has form over further so cannot be discounted off a 3lb higher mark than at Carlisle today, while Intavac Boy has claims if fit enough for his reappearance. Tony Tie is capable of playing a part in the finish on the pick of his form but is on a long losing sequence and of more interest may be Foolish Groom, who showed improved form at Chepstow last time. The vote though goes to Ed McMahon's Band, who failed to stay 10 furlongs at Nottingham on his latest start but had shown promise over today's trip previously and looks worth a bet in receipt of so much weight from his main rivals.
