    Verdict

Boruler, Highrate and No Idea all ran up to a similar level when well beaten on their debuts, but Smart Ruler went close in a bumper on the Polytrack last month and could prove best of those with experience. However, DARLAN is a half-brother to a winner over hurdles and it would be no surprise if he proves good enough on his debut in a race his powerful stable won in 2009 with Peveril. Fellow newcomer Driftwood Lad is also worth noting but will probably be seen at his best once tackling fences.
