In depth
Verdict
BUDDHIST MONK is in good form and he can win again; the list of dangers is headed by Oriental Cavalier and Pyrus Time. Ian Williams has his string in decent form at present and this horse is a case in point. He has won twice and finished second on his last three visits to the racecourse and at this kind of level he is a leading light. He has a decent draw for one that likes to dictate from the front and he should prove hard to beat. Oriental Cavalier is the obvious alternative as he has been running consistently well in handicap company and he drops into this grade for the first time today. Pyrus Time is another who runs in this grade for the first time but he has had plenty of chances to get his head in front now without being able to take one. He may have to once again settle for some place money, while Applaude won in this grade last time and he has gone well here in the past. There are plenty in with chances and the vote goes to Buddhist Monk.
