In depth
Verdict
Plenty of future winners on view but we will stick with proven course-and-distance form and nominate Black Frost ahead of Benrajah and It's Music. Owner, Trevor Hemmings won this race with Hunters Tweed last year and Black Frost, who won tidily at the track earlier this term looks to have been laid out to land this contest. He will be given plenty to do by Benrajah. Martin Todhunter's charge did not do too much wrong behind Jacdor at Kempton last time and the trainer is no stranger to sending out good horses at Haydock. There was plenty of confidence behind It's Music at Exeter on chasing debut and he shaped up sounded before being ran out of it close home. Joe Deane would ideally seem to need it much softer to be at his best while Burundi's better efforts tend to occur in smaller fields. Of the remainder, a speculative look at Iron Express could be worth a look at bigger odds. He has shown glimpses of ability in Northern events and a mark of 90 is hardly an overreaction for what he has achieved thus far. We though will side with Black Frost to take the race for Sue Smith and Trevor Hemmings.
