In depth
Verdict
Discanti, Helping Hand and Little Pete make the shortlist here, with Discanti, a winner last time, taken to shrug off a penalty. Helping Hand belied a starting price of 40-1 when finishing a close second last time. That was an improved effort and he may have benefitted from being dropped to the minimum trip. He is only a pound higher here and can hit the frame, three pounds better off with his conqueror Espy. A Kempton winner as a juvenile, Little Pete ran a terrific race first time out this season to be third in a decent Windsor handicap. He should be sharper for that effort and can play a part in the finish here. Discanti was only ordinary as a juvenile, but left that form well behind when storming home on his second run of the season at Musselburgh. The Tim Easterby camp has gone through a quiet patch, but Discanti looks capable of carrying a six pound penalty to victory.
