In depth
Verdict
Patkai, Tomintoul Flyer and Inventor make the shortlist here, with Tomintoul Flyer taken to come out on top. Having finished third to Unnefer, a subsequent winner, and then run out a staying on second in a Chester handicap, Patkai looks race fit and ready to give a good account here. This more galloping track looks sure to suit-he took a while to get going at Chester- and he can hit the frame again. A winner at Bath at the end iof last season and successful in a Windsor handicap on his re-appearance-he meets the runner-up on four pounds worse terms for a length and three quarters, Inventor is lightly raced and progressive. However, he was put in his place earlier by Tomintoul Flyer and there is no reason why he should turn the tables. After finishing a close third to the classy Centennial on his debut, Tomintoul Flyer made no mistake in his next two starts, his staying on success last time suggesting he would relish this step up in trip. He is very well regarded and was heavily supported when due to run at Sandown when that meeting was abandoned. Tomintoul Flyer looks sure to be even better over this trip and is the selection.
