In depth
Verdict
The finale can go to Reseda ahead of the other topweight Dolmur, with Rosetown and Brisbane Road best of the rest. Reseda was a dual bumper winner three years ago but had been off prior to returning for a hurdling campaign in October. He has shaped like an out-and-out stayer although he would not want the ground any softer as he does like to hear his hooves rattle. His third to Pole Star the time before last puts him bang in the frame, and he can account for Dolmur. The latter finally came good when scoring over the course and distance in a similar contest last time, after which Ferdy Murphy pointed out that the five-year-old was once quite useful on the Flat for Tony Mullins, having run in the Irish 2,000 Guineas in 2003. Rosetown has been much happier since going back over hurdles and was successful over track and trip with first-time blinkers on in January. He has acquitted himself well since and is a leading candidate, but Brisbane Road has more to do stepped up in grade. Another hard one to go out on then, with Reseda the selection.
