In depth

Verdict

LETHAM ISLAND may be able to maintain her perfect record for the yard and she's preferred to Bosamcliff and Norman Beckett. There's always a danger in siding with runners who are turned out quickly in a bid to make hay before the handicapper can catch them as the run may come too soon. However, Letham Island did well to win on debut for Tim Vaughan on ground that would have been more testing than she cares for and her penalty is reduced by a capable claimer. Bosamcliff has been turning in some consistent efforts on the level and should go well if none the worse for her fall at Warwick whilst Norman Beckett is well handicapped on his old form and hasn't had many chances for this shrewd yard. Treasury Counsel is a shadow of his former self but is well handicapped as a result, Park Run may fare better now handicapping as may Joking Aside whose yard has had a couple of winners this week. They all have something to prove though and could struggle to match Letham Island.
