In depth

Verdict

The old-timer Southerndown returned to winning ways in great style last time and can go in again this afternoon, Sir Cumference and Waterberg may provide most danger. The Venetia Williams trained twelve-year-old was gaining his first victory for two years when beating Uncle Mick at Newton Abbot. It wasn't the strongest of races, but neither is this and a follow up looks on the cards. Sir Cumference continues to run well and only gave way close home when third to Waynesworld last time out, another bold showing can be expected. Waterberg has a big weight to carry round here but is steadily improving this campaign and could go well at decent odds. Alfred The Grey is not one to put too much trust in but has the ability to get involved here, but Southerndown has hit form with a vengeance and can make it back to back victories.
