In depth
Verdict
From a shortlist containing Butler Services, Coleraine, Four For A Laugh, Hatton House and Pearly Star, we will side with the first-named. Butler Services is from a top yard and related to a number of winning jumpers. Also, he showed promise on his bumper debut, so is one to consider. Coleraine is also well bred for this game and changed hands for 40,000 euros as a four-year-old so commands respect, while Four For A Laugh fetched 24,000 euros in the sales ring and is another to consider. However, topping the price list at 130,000 euros is the Dr Massini half-brother to Grand National winner Amberleigh House, Hatton House, who is another to pay some heed to. Jimmy Bedney was fourth in a modest Worcester bumper last time, while Legal Glory has something to like on breeding so keep an eye on his price. Lord Ryeford is a brother to a winning hurdler, while Northern Endeavour showed a little promise on his debut. Oscar Royal is not a forlorn hope on breeding, and Pearly Star, from the same family as the top-class Pearlyman, has shown enough in two bumper starts to be granted consideration here. Overall, though, in a race where the betting could prove helpful, the vote goes to Butler Services.
