Verdict
Salix, a winner on the Flat in France, was backed against the smart Redicean on his hurdling debut at Kempton in December but was far too keen and paid the price in the closing stages. He is surely better than that and has leading claims here. Aardwolf has shaped like a non-stayer in his two runs to date over timber but BROUGHTONS ADMIRAL was placed over 2m on Polytrack last year and was staying on when fifth over track and trip in January. Conditions today will be even more testing and he may just outlast his rivals. Don Herbager is stoutly bred and any market interest in Venetia Williams’ newcomer would be significant.
