Verdict
Gatorade gets the vote here ahead of Shays Lane and Mr Laggan. Given that he has won from a three-pound higher mark and that he is set to return to that mark shortly, Gatorade holds an obvious chance. The possible downside is that he has yet to win over this type of trip, although he has proven he stays three miles on a level track. Each of Shays Lane's three wins has come at this venue so he clearly loves it here and, racing from a mark of five pounds higher than when he won in June, looks set to go well in a modest heat. Mr Laggan has also won and can be rated a danger if getting back to his form of last December. Of the others, Hurricane Bay is four pounds higher than when scoring at Wetherby in May 2003, but Wynward Dancer's course win came in a routine Hunter Chase. It is easy to pick holes in the form of the others although Just Story ran well from out of the handicap last time and, if that form can be taken literally, he can be given a chance. Overall, though, the vote goes to Gatorade.
