Verdict

Brigade of Guards, the last of Richard Johnson's mounts today, ran his best race for Alan King on his final start at Ascot in March but was well beaten on his debut for Tim Vaughan at Taunton. His pedigree suggests he should do better though TAKING FLIGHT did enough when fourth on his hurdling debut at Ayr to be handed the vote in a very moderate contest. Calle Malva, placed in a point-to-point in April, will have found 2m too short at Ayr while Master Newton only showed moderate form in bumpers and the remainder make no appeal.
