In depth

Verdict

TRIUMPHANT (NAP) was the subject of a big gamble back over hurdles at Plumpton last month. He could only manage fourth but this extra half-mile should be in his favour and the five-year-old, who'd run well on the Flat in a decent race at Goodwood earlier, can score for the first time for his new stable here. Deadly Sting ran well again when second to Kodicil at Uttoxeter but has been raised 4lb for his efforts. Johnny McGeeney has his first start for David Pipe while Fade To Grey may be feeling his age but it would be no surprise to see Phare Isle in the firing-line. He returns from a break but was competing in better company on the whole last season.
