In depth

Verdict

Donatessa is taken to get off the mark here at the main expense of Petrovka and Boot 'n Toot. Charlie Mann has his horses in good form at this early stage of the season and Donatessa, formerly trained in France, has shaped with plenty of ability in two starts over hurdles in the UK. Only beaten a short-head at Folkestone recently, she should strip fitter for that run and she looks worth a bet. Petrovka finished behind the selection at Folkestone and whilst she has plenty of jumping experience on her side, the fact that she is winless in 14 speaks volumes. Jumeirah Jane makes her hurdling debut this afternoon and needs a check in the betting as she has shaped with ability but will probably need more time before we see her winning. At a price don't be too surprised to see improvement from Owlesbury Dream. She ran in the good Aintree bumper last year and looks sure to win races this season over timber, so whilst Boot 'n Toot may improve on her fair effort first time up over hurdles (if ridden more prominently), it is Donatessa who gets the vote.
