In depth
Verdict
Not a race that will take much winning and this appears a good opportunity for Crimson Pirate who can open his account. Ben de Haan's charge showed an abundance of promise when second behind a useful yardstick on his hurdling debut at Kempton in November and this represents a massive drop in grade. Flaviatore was a useful middle-distance handicapper in his native Germany and shaped encouragingly on his British debut at Wincanton. Mario Hofer's charge can't be ruled out in an ordinary event while newcomers Don't Sioux Me and Indian Star have also shown ability on the Flat and should be noted in the exchanges.
