FIRMOUNT GENT (NAP) won a novices' handicap at Bangor, when Silent Man pulled up, then found the minimum trip too short at Southwell. Stepped up to 2m3f at Plumpton last time, he would have won but for a last-fence fall and compensation awaits. Brereton started favourite over hurdles at Warwick when last seen in May but didn't run well though starts off over fences on a lowly mark. Like Glengra, he hasn't had much experience but the latter has had a couple of runs over fences, though made far too many mistakes on his last start at Doncaster in February. Midnight Gem fell on his opening run over fences back in May and he was soon beaten after attempting to make all over 2m4f here last month.
