Verdict
Although it is difficult to weigh up his French form, there can be little doubt that Kelrev is a talented gelding. A faller on his fencing debut back home, he has since come out and completed a hat-trick in chases across the water under Jacques Ricou. This is a similarly small field to those in which he has been racing, which should suit, as should both the trip and the soft ground. With his chasing experience he is taken to continue an impressive run of form and win on his English debut. Of the remaining quarter, the obvious alternative is Nicky Henderson-trained Jericho III. Another to have fallen on his chasing debut - at Taunton in his case - the six-year-old thrashed a similar sized field on soft ground at Leicester last time. Sure to have benefitted from that success, he should give the selection most to do. Inns And Outs has run well enough on his two chase starts so far, but is one who looks likely to benefit from further in the future. Mercato has got ability and stayed on well up the Cheltenham hill last time. This is a different track and he has got a course win to his name here. He is also owned by racing pundit Dave Nevison, so look out for any money for him prior to the off. Bronzesmith fell last time out and does not really look up to this, though he has had a break and if Timmy Murphy can work some of his magic on board, then we should at least see some improvement.
