Verdict
Largy Ray has switched stables since winning a Kilbeggan bumper in August but makes more appeal than Solid As A Rock and Jean Danjou, who was 0-5 on the Flat. Eagle Of The Glen is penalised for winning at Hexham in the spring, though the third that day has franked the form. NORMAN FLETCHER (NAP) won bumpers at Southwell and Ludlow last season and his yard is in cracking form so he can make a winning start over timber.
Formwatch
Eagle Of The Glen 13-2 (11-0) Handy, not fluent 2 out, soon pressed leader, pushed along and disputed lead last, ridden and led narrowly run-in, always doing enough, won at Hexham 2m (4) sft in Apr beating Tintintin (11-7) by 1/2l, 9 ran.
Largy Ray (IRE) 8-1 (12-0) Towards rear, progress into 7th over 3f out, pushed along to go 4th on outer entering straight, ridden to lead 1f out, kept on well, won at Kilbeggan 2m sft in Aug beating The Shantou King (12-0) by 2 1/2l, 10 ran.
Jean Danjou 9-4fav (9-3) Led, set good tempo and opened three-length lead before halfway, joined 4f out, soon headed, gradually weakened from 1f out, lost fifth final 110 yards, last of 6, 17 1/2l behind Fast Steps (9-9) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (4) sft in May.
Norman Fletcher 10-3 (11-7) Prominent, led going best over 2f out, went clear from over 1f out, readily, won at Ludlow 2m (4) gs in Apr beating Pearl Island (11-0) by 8 1/2l, 11 ran.
Solid As A Rock (IRE) 22-1 (10-9) Held up 3rd, outpaced and struggling home turn, never any chance, 3rd of 0, 14 1/2l behind Secret Squirrel (11-1) at Fontwell 1m 6f Grp 2 (5) gd in Apr.
