Verdict

Sir Antony Browne was backed to make a winning start over hurdles at Wincanton and got there in the end, despite running green. There should be plenty more to come from Alan King’s gelding, who has a couple of Cheltenham entries, and he makes more appeal than fellow winner Glaring, who was well beaten behind Elgin at Kempton having sprung a 33/1 surprise here on his first start over timber. CRIEVEHILL probably wouldn’t want the going to get any quicker but he’s now found his feet after a ponderous start and followed up a Lingfield handicap win with a solid third in a Grade 2 at Haydock - he has to be the selection on that form. The four-year-old Walsingham Grange didn’t beat much at Catterick while Flat winner Jodies Jem will need to settle better if he’s to get home over jumps. Cosmic King may do better in handicaps while Comanche Chieftain might need today’s experience.
