In depth

Verdict

NEW YEAR'S EVE's only victory over hurdles so far came in a match but he's generally taken on better company than this and should be good enough to defy his penalty. Those looking for a bit of value may want to consider Anton Chigurh, whose only two victories on the Flat came on heavy ground. He probably has a bit more scope than the likes of Ultra Klass and Bally Braes - the latter looks to be crying out for a longer trip. Generous Ransom has hinted at ability in a couple of starts on soft ground and could reward each-way support.
