Verdict
Not too many make appeal here and Some Judge should be up to giving weight away all round at the expense of Karajan, Make It Easy and Erris Express. Some Judge has the one thing that the others do not, and that is a recent win to his credit, so stands out on the bare form. That victory came in a weak novices' handicap hurdle at Bangor and showed that two and a half miles is probably his optimum trip. The switch to fences may be the making of this ex-Irish individual who should bounce off the ground, and he could not have been found an easier opportunity. Karajan has taken on the likes of The Bajan Bandit in the past but is still looking for that elusive first success over fences after many attempts and is hard to get too worked up about. Erris Express was well held when third to Polish Baron at Towcester, but as the latter lines up against Translucid in an earlier race on this card, we should not leave him totally out of calculations, but he was pulled up last time out. Make It Easy has certainly not lived up to his name and has it to do from out of the handicap, so it is without a great deal of confidence that we return to Some Judge as our idea of the winner.
