In depth
Verdict
Nothing stands out in the bumper, and although having a penalty to overcome, Reel Missile may follow up at the expense of Algenon, Opera Hall and a host of interesting newcomers. Into the latter category fall the likes of Racing Demon and Roll Along, but they will no doubt pay to follow when eventually sent over fences, and as Reel Missile has already shown what he can do, he is taken to add to his debut success at Doncaster and prove that his 100-1 tag was too big. There was no fluke about his victory as he forced the pace throughout and galloped on well in the straight, and although having a penalty, should make fitness tell. Another bold show is on the cards then, with Algenon and Opera Hall expected to give him most to do. The latter caught the eye at Fakenham, staying on in third place despite Josh Byrne appearing to lose an iron on the run-in, while Algenon looked the likely winner when going to the front two furlongs out on his Haydock bow, but quickly capitulated and probably needs to settle better. Peddars Way comes from a stable that does really well with its young horses and is worth a mention, but in a race in which bets should be kept on the small side, Reel Missile is the selection.
