In depth
Verdict
This should fall to the Philip Hobbs trained Pearl King, with Monash Lad and Blue Train the likely dangers. This former Michael Jarvis inmate was rated in the high eighties on the flat and he made a very pleasing hurdling debut when third to Political Intrigue at Ludlow. Fitness has to be taken on trust but he does look the class act in a modest looking event. Blue Train was also rated highly on the flat but disappointed over hurdles last time. There is also a slight concern about the form of the yard and so he is passed over on this occasion. Monash Lad has had a great summer on the flat and has also shown plenty of promise over the jumps, he looks the main threat to our selection. Any money for the newcomer Jalamid would be of interest but on this occasion we will side with Pearl King.
