In depth

Verdict

Some smart performers have won this down the years including My Drogo 12 months ago. He went on to win a Grade 1 at Aintree and Dan Skelton has another leading chance this year in Sholokjack, who has won at Leicester and Wetherby without coming off the bridle. Datsalrightgino didn’t handle heavy going in the Tolworth at Sandown and could easily bounce back while Bold Endeavour has done nothing wrong. North Lodge is also unbeaten but has a penalty for winning a Grade 2 at Cheltenham and may struggle to confirm earlier Aintree running with RICHMOND LAKE on today’s terms. Though receiving weight, Donald McCain’s charge ran leading Supreme Novices’ fancy Jonbon to three lengths at Haydock and this intermediate distance could prove ideal. Honneur D'ajonc has won three of his last four but is a lot more exposed than his rivals.
