In depth
Verdict
Jonjo O'Neill's runners in bumpers are always worth a second look and it would come as no surprise if Charlie Moon, a son of Moonax, was good enough to win this on his debut but, along with other interesting newcomers including Alan King's Roselier gelding Natterjack and Nicky Henderson's Sunley Future, he may have to settle for a minor role behind Blazing Guns. Henrietta Knight's strapping Un Desperado gelding created a favourable impression when an eye-catching sixth behind The Rising Moon at Newbury on his debut. He should have learned a great deal from that effort and, with the softening ground to help, he gets the vote. The Philip Hobbs-trained Sunnyland ran promisingly on his debut at Haydock last month and is another to consider along with Don Cantillon's Alfie's Sun who was behind the selection at Newbury but again ran well at Huntingdon last time. Christian Von der Recke's Volcano Snow, a daughter of Zilzal is another worthy of a mention on her debut but we prefer to side with the experience of Blazing Guns.
